This week, I took a break from using AI for business development and decided to put it to work for something a little more personal: planning our family summer vacation.
It was sparked by a great conversation with a group earlier this week, and then reinforced during a chat with a mom friend who told me she just didn’t have the bandwidth to research vacation options for her family this summer.
So I gave AI a challenge:
Plan a 6-day vacation within a 4-hour drive for a family of six:
— A 4-year-old
— A pair of two-year-old twins
— A 75-year-old grandma with limited mobility
— And two tired parents looking for a mix of activity and relaxation
The result? Two thoughtful itineraries in Blue Ridge and Chattanooga — complete with kid-friendly activities, downtime, and accessibility for my mom.
I often talk about AI as a tool for increasing productivity and professional efficiency, but this was a powerful reminder: it can also give us back time, reduce mental load, and help us focus on what really matters.
Sometimes, using AI isn’t about doing more — it’s about freeing up brain space.
If you’re staring down summer and feeling maxed out already, you’re not alone. Feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to share how I prompt for things like this.
